The Mono Lake Basin offers a wide range of photo opportunities, from Mono Lake’s tufa formations, Jeffery Pine and Aspen groves, Volcanoes, ghost towns, alpine lakes, valleys, and mountain streams – all within a short distance from town. Lee Vining is a quiet small town, that sees tourist traffic drop substantially after the summer season.

We will meet up Wednesday 10/5 in Lee Vining to determine where we shoot first and discuss the itinerary, logistics and a discussion of Landscape photography.

Thursday will start with sunrise on the South Shore of Mono Lake, and then we will go to various locations for fall color,  including a afternoon trip around the June Lake Loop.  Back to Mono for sunset at a very special Dan Holmes Location.

Friday again will be an early start for sunrise, and then a drive up Mono Creek to experience a different part of the Sierra.  We wrap with a discussion, image critique and no-host lunch.

A more detail overview and what to bring will be sent after you enroll.

Note that lodging is for you to book, and we have a few suggestions:

Soft afternoon light, light rain, and fall colors — a quiet moment in Long Valley.
The first autumn snow falls in a Sierra canyon. The air is crisp, silent, and misted with snow. Short lived yet timeless. Eastern Sierra, Eyrie Crag, June Lakes Loop, as the first snow begins to fall.
